Tell us about one of your most memorable experiences outdoors. One of my most memorable experiences outdoors happened just this month when I took my 4 year old daughter camping for the first time! It was just the two of us staying out around the Columbia River in Cougar, Washington. Showing her how to build a fire and sleeping in a tent were what she enjoyed the most. Being away from cell service and out amongst the trees are what I enjoy. Hopefully that trip is one that she will remember for many years to come!
You’re headed outdoors for the weekend but can only bring a rifle, an axe or a knife. Which one do you choose and why?
If I could only bring one of three items (axe, knife, rifle) into the woods for the weekend there is no question that I would bring a rifle! I don’t leave the house without a firearm of some kind. In this case though I would take my Howa 1500 chambered in .308! Great for distance and hunting!
What is something you learned that could only be learned while being in the great outdoors?
I’ve learned many life lessons and gained many skills from various outdoor experiences but if I had to pass on one piece of wisdom it would be the importance of a campfire. The light helps to see and keeps some animals and insects at bay. The heat helps to keep warm. You need it to boil drinking water and cook food. The times you share with friends and family around a campfire are unlike any other. Never let your fire die!
